After the 2004 sale of the Old Dewey House fine dining business, we still needed a job so we were happy to announce the transformation of the ODH garage into our latest enterprise: Grumpy's Goat Shack----a casual, fun, local hangout. The 1927 era garage was too small to park a modern car in but was big enough to create a cozy bar, a small powder room and enough space to serve up some tasty menu options. We provide a place where locals and tourists enjoy a low end alternative without compromising in taste or service because we continue to focus on the three elements that kept us successful in our fine dining operation:

Service, Quality and Consistency.

We were aware the demographic in Teton Valley was changing. A lot of new, younger people were moving into the area, having their first baby and/or building their first home. After experiencing first hand in our dining room the attention span of toddlers, babies, and drunks and their uncontrolled performances in a nice, quiet setting, we decided on the casual concept and because we are only open in the warmer months, we utilize the patio and backyard area where the kids can romp and feed the goats in the pasture while their parents enjoy their cold adult beverages on the patio while still keeping an eye out. The tipplers and smokers can roam in and out as well. Grumpy's is in a small, separate building right next door to the Old Stone House Italian Restaurant building and is fun & cozy with eight barstools and a flat screen HD TV. Mike always has sports like the Hockey play-offs, golf, or other entertaining shows on including vintage Soul Train programs and Art Mann Presents. The guys always also enjoy the colorful bra and panty collection on the ceiling and the regulars check for new additions.

As always, we strive to be a step above the local competition with lower prices yet offering flavorful and fresh preparations with quality ingredients and a varied beverage selection with unique beers, wine, other malt beverages, soft drinks and teas as well as personal, friendly and fast service that you won't find across the street.

Belly up & choose from a big variety of different beers, including fine imports like Pilsner Urquell, Stella Artois, Pacifico, Guiness Stout; or taste an Idaho micro brew like Old Faithful Pale Ale brewed right here in Victor, or Scapegoat Pale Ale from Missoula MT. Wine lovers can sample the best of Idaho vines as well as choose from a myriad of other selections by the glass. A full-blown Liquor license is very hard to come by in the LDS controlled state of Idaho. In fact, as of Summer 2010, there are only two establishments in Victor pouring hard alcohol. While it sometimes makes it hard to compete, we make up for it with a clean, smoke free, friendly atmosphere and try and offer a wider selection.

And unlike the other establishments in town, you won't find yourself confronted with slow or surly bartenders. When we first started Grumpys we mainly served dogs and brats now the menu includes more options including our goat cheese, appetizers, vegetarian choices and desserts like Grand Marnier Mousse and ourlatest treat: Cake in a Cup. Try it "Twinkie Style"!
